The research domain of the ELECTA division covers the broad spectrum of electrical energy systems and robust control of industrial systems. The development of the future smart grid is the key activity.
 
As the largest research group on energy systems and fault tolerance in the Benelux, ELECTA wants to be recognized as a centre-of-excellence on these topics, where fundamental research is combined with immediately and prospectively applicable solutions for the industry.

Alongside this development of know-how, it is important is to share gained knowledge with the academic community, students, industry and the society as a whole.

Het onderzoek van de afdeling ELECTA focust zich op het brede domein van
de elektrische energie en van de robuuste, foutbestendige regeling en
sturing van industriële, elektrotechnische systemen. De ontwikkeling van
het toekomstige intelligente net is een kerntaak.
 
ELECTA wil zich hierin verder manifesteren als een internationaal erkend center-of-excellence waar fundamenteel lange-termijn onderzoek gekoppeld wordt met industrieel-relevante oplossingen op middellange en kortere termijn.
 
Naast deze kennisopbouw staat de kennisverspreiding binnen de academische wereld, naar de studenten en naar de industrie en de gemeenschap centraal.
