The research domain of the ELECTA division covers the broad spectrum of electrical energy systems and robust control of industrial systems. The development of the future smart grid is the key activity.
 
As the largest research group on electrical energy systems in the Benelux, ELECTA wants to be recognized as a centre-of-excellence on these topics, where fundamental research is combined with immediately and prospectively applicable solutions for the industry.

Alongside this development of know-how, it is important is to share gained knowledge with the academic community, students, industry and the society as a whole. Electa is also co-founder of the knowledge center EnergyVille together with VITO en Imec.

Electa received the mark 'excellent' during the research invitation in 2011.

Het onderzoek van de afdeling ELECTA focust zich op het brede domein van
de elektrische energie en van de robuuste regeling en
sturing van elektrotechnische systemen. De ontwikkeling van
het toekomstige intelligente net is een kerntaak.
 
ELECTA wil zich hierin verder manifesteren als een internationaal erkend center-of-excellence waar fundamenteel lange-termijn onderzoek gekoppeld wordt met industrieel-relevante oplossingen op middellange en kortere termijn.
 
Naast deze kennisopbouw staat de kennisverspreiding binnen de academische wereld, naar de studenten en naar de industrie en de gemeenschap centraal. Bovendien is Electa mede-oprichter van het kenniscentrum EnergyVille samen met VITO en Imec.

Electa kreeg de quotering 'excellent' tijdens de onderzoeksvisitatie in 2011.
