ELECTA
The research domain of the ELECTA division covers the broad spectrum of electrical energy systems and robust control of industrial systems. The development of the future smart grid is the key activity.
As one of the largest research groups on electrical energy systems in the Benelux, ELECTA wants to be recognised as a centre-of-excellence on these topics, where fundamental research is combined with immediately and prospectively applicable solutions for the industry. You can find us on several KU Leuven campuses: Arenberg (with locations in Leuven and Genk), Diepenbeek and Technology Campus Gent-Aalst.
Alongside this development of know-how, it is important is to share gained knowledge with the academic community, students, industry and the society as a whole. Next to the organisation of the energy education in several university faculties, we also conduct innovative research and provide services to external partners. ELECTA is co-founder of the knowledge center EnergyVille together with VITO, imec and Hasselt University. Here we develop technologies to support a transition to an energy efficient, decarbonized and durable urban environment. This research stretches from solar panels and energy storage, all the way to strategies and markets. You can find more information about ongoing research at EnergyVille here.
