As the largest research group on energy systems and fault tolerance in the Benelux, ELECTA's vision is to be widely recognized as centre-of-excellence on these topics, where fundamental research is coupled with immediately and prospectively applicable solutions for the industry.
 
Alongside this development of know-how, a pivotal importance is given to sharing gained knowledge with the academic community, students, industry and the society as a whole.

Het onderzoek van de afdeling ELECTA focust zich op het brede domein van
de elektrische energie en van de robuuste, foutbestendige regeling en
sturing van industriële, elektrotechnische systemen. De ontwikkeling van
het toekomstige intelligente net is een kerntaak.
 
ELECTA wil zich hierin verder manifesteren als een internationaal erkend center-of-excellence waar fundamenteel lange-termijn onderzoek gekoppeld wordt met industrieel-relevante oplossingen op middellange en kortere termijn.
 
Naast deze kennisopbouw staat de kennisverspreiding binnen de academische wereld, naar de studenten en naar de industrie en de gemeenschap centraal.
