Digital Circuit Design

The digital research within MICAS is focussed on circuit level digital design. The physical aspects and limitations of digital circuits are handled. This translates into two main research branches. The first branch is the design of SRAM memories in advanced CMOS technologies, taking the typical scaling effects, leakage and variability, into account and dealing with them. The second branch is the design of ultra low energy circuits for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). This branch also contains the research towards the implementation of ultra low voltage, sub-threshold logic. In the ultra low energy context the target is to develop a complete, working WSN system including integrated localisation capability of the sensor nodes as proof of concept for the research.
