Perfectly spherical gold nano-droplets
Scientists produce perfectly spherical gold nano-droplets
KU Leuven researcher Ventsislav Valev, in cooperation with ESAT-TELEMIC and an international team of scientists, has developed a new method for the optical manipulation of materials at the nanoscale. They managed to produce perfect spherical gold nano-droplets, generating the smallest nano-jets ever seen. The perfect balls are better suited for medical applications than granular particles.
The study is a collaboration between scientists from Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Russia and Singapore, and was published in the latest issue of the journal Advanced Materials.
