- The evolution in current telecommunication devices for the end user shows an important trend towards flexible devices that can be reconfigured according to the needs, and that are more and more integrated. Besides reseach in the area of architectures and design methodologies, this project aims at the development of signal processing algorithms, needed for the realisation of such devices. For the partner ESAT/PSI, research is envisaged on speech coding and compression. The work will be focused on progressive coding, allowing a variable degree of analysis/ synthesis at the transmitter/receiver, depending on the availability of channel capacity and/or compute power.
