SPCH01: Inventory of Speech & Language tools needed for logopedic applications

Topic description

With the current advance in speech & language technology (SLT), one can start to think about new fantastic applications that integrate technology from several disciplines. One such category of fantastic applications are logopedic tools, i.e. programs to teach children how to pronounce sounds or words, or to help them read or summarize texts.

The primary aim of this project is to make an inventory of the tools and techniques used by speech therapists and to correlate this inventory with the currently available speech & language tools. Next, some high level flow-charts for computers programs that aid the logopaedics in there work or that allow the child the rehearse by itself, can be made. These examples should help in finding those areas in the S&L field where better or even new techniques are needed in order to make such applications possible.

Given the nature of this project, the applicant should be mobile (be able to visit logopaedics at their work) and preferably speak Dutch.
