"Large-Scale Monitoring of Processes & Products "
Prof. Marco Reis
Department of Chemical Engineering
University of Coimbra
Abstract
In this seminar I will address the development of approaches for the
large scale monitoring of processes and products, with special emphasis
on methodologies that are able to describe and integrate in the analysis
all the relevant features that are located at different scales of
analysis, either in time (processes) or space (products). This so
called data-driven multiscale approaches for processes & products
monitoring, take advantage of several features of wavelet-like
transforms, such as their decorrelation and energy compaction ability,
which, upon combination with other multivariate tools, lead to effective
and efficient methods for process monitoring. Several monitoring
schemes developed for processes (multivariate dynamical continuous
processes) and products (paper surface: 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional
profiles) will be addressed.
