About the Networking Group

The Networking Group is part of the TELEMIC division of the Electrical Engineering Department (ESAT) of the University of Leuven, Belgium. The group studies telecommunication networks at the system level. Research focuses on the development and analysis of future integrated broadband networks. This includes various aspects of networking research such as the development and evaluation of protocols for mobile access, Quality of Service for multimedia applications, the analysis and modelling of the impact of traffic on network devices, avoiding and handling congestion, devising and implementing new, intelligent simulation methods.

The research group is headed by A. Van de Capelle. He is assisted by E. Van Lil. At the beginning of 2004 the group consisted of 5 research assistants.

In order to conduct its research the Networking Group makes use of both self-designed and commercially available software (in some cases with self-written add-on modules) and of the hardware in the well equipped network lab.
