WaveCore Seminar: Wearable rectenna for wireless power transfer and energy harvesting - by Zhensheng Chen
ABSTRACT
Considering the cost, user experience, reliability, availability, functionality, stability, safety, etc., up to now, most of designed wearable rectennas (rectifying antennas) are made of well-constructed rigid substrates of small sizes. The small sizes strictly confine the antennas and the rectifiers. This stringent space availability results in a low energy harvesting efficiency, since the gain and the aperture efficiency of the antenna are essentially related to its physical dimensions. In this seminar, I will present our recent work that aims to design a robust aperture coupled wearable rectenna. This design considers the above-mentioned restrictions in wearable applications, while taking the advantage of the space availability for textile antennas. And a demonstration of possible application will be made.
