The Networked Systems research group at KU Leuven focuses on wireless communications and mobile networks.

Discover our labs and infrastructure

Networked Systems has four main labratories, each equipped with their own ground-breaking infrastructure :

  • Non-terrestrial Networks (NTN)
  • Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO)
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Artifical Intelligence (AI)

Watch: visible light communication (VLC)

Video demo

Energy is received and stored until an LED can be connected and powered. The blinking frequency indicates the charging and discharging rate, which depends on the received power level.

In this video, a massive MIMO basestation and four automated positioners in different configurations are used to sample the wireless channel.

Meet the people behind the research

Led by Professor Sofie Pollin, the Networked Systems team consists of almost 30 postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.

The Networked Systems research group is located on KU Leuven's Arenberg campus and is  affiliated with the WaveCoRE Arenberg Division of the KU Leuven Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT).

MINTS

Research project

MINTS provides a unique system-oriented training to 15 ESRs, nurturing a new generation of innovators thanks to internationally recognized researchers with broad experience in research, training, and participation in EU, national, and industry-sponsored projects.

With the intensive involvement of industrial beneficiaries and partner organisations (Nokia, NEC, Sony, NI, IMEC, Telefonica, Italtel), the ESRs will obtain in-depth knowledge and skills in mmWave networks and its key applications.
