Reach us by train

Leuven is a well-connected city in Belgium: there are trains going to Leuven every half hour or every hour, depending on where you are travelling from. You can check the timetables and buy tickets at Belgian railways.

Note that Belgium is a bilingual country, and depending on the part of the country you are in, names of places change. The French name of Leuven is Louvain. Please pay attention to the fact that you have to take the train to Leuven/Louvain and not to Louvain-la-neuve (Louvain-la-neuve is situated near Wavre).

From the train station in Leuven, you can take a taxi or a bus to Heverlee. Bus number 2 in the direction “Kessel-Lo – Heverlee” and bus number 616 in the direction of “Leuven – Bertem – Moorsel – Zaventem” both stop at “Kantineplein”. Get off the bus here and walk into the Arenberg park using the small cobble stone road. On your right side, you will see the ESAT building (Department of Electrical Engineering) where our research group is located.

  • Take the highway E40 (Brussels – Liege / Liege – Brussels).
  • Take the exit E314 / Leuven (no. 15).
  • Keep right and follow the sign “Leuven” (leave the E314). You are now on the Koning Boudewijnlaan/N264.
  • Turn right at the third traffic lights on Koning Boudewijnlaan/N264 (direction Campus Arenberg, this is the Celestijnenlaan).

  • Inside the park, walk on the road parallel to the river until the last tree (with the Arenberg castle on your left).  Take a right and continue on the cobble stone road between the hedges.  Continue uphill and follow the cobble stone road (it will bend to the left at some point). At the end of the road, the ESAT building (Department of Electrical Engineering) will be in front of you.
